The LINC program enables you to interact with people within the Bulldog family and community. Your host will be committed to ensuring that you receive the best experience that Mississippi State has to offer. In this program, we hope you will not only discover new valuable friends, but that you will expand your knowledge of a different culture, its communities, and its history and people.

Enhance your journey at Mississippi State University by joining the LINC Program. When you join the LINC Program, the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center will match you with a local family/mentor that will help you explore U.S. culture, Mississippi State University and the Starkville area.

Throughout the academic year, you will meet monthly with your family/mentor to reinforce your multicultural awareness.

What are the benefits?

  • Increase your English-language skills to better understand and succeed inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Enhance your sense of community at MSU
  • Learn about American culture, traditions and customs.
  • Build your cross-cultural competency and understanding.
  • Meet a family/mentor who will answer your questions and serve as a friend.

  • Be willing to learn
  • Attend Welcome event
  • Meet monthly with your family/mentor
  • Participate in at least one Holmes Cultural Diversity Center event each semester

Who are the families?

Families are alumni, faculty, and staff of MSU and from the Starkville community who care about your success as a Mississippi State University student. Our families want to learn about you and your culture. Take them on a journey to explore your country by signing up to be part of the LINC Program.
